iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED contest winner!

Congratulations to Smitty, the winner of the iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED contest, for uploading the most approved pix - 811 in all - in November.

We'd also like to thank everyone who participated in the contest, especially our friends milkman (373), theminx (233), jak100 (160) and pattibro1225 (110).

Looking ahead to 2007

2007Here are some of the things planned for 2007:

- New member streaming video feeds. (1Q07)

- New photo galleries.

- More payment options (SMS and alternative credit card processors for our friends in Europe). (2Q07)

- A new ISP link for even speedier page load times, especially for our European users. (2Q07)

- Another go at upgrading the chat system. (3Q07)

- Purchase of an Apple XServe which will give us lots of options for improved video streaming (longer videos, fast forward, rewind, different quality levels by bandwidth, etc.) (by 3Q07)

Some of the things that we're considering, but have not commited to in 2007 (depends on time and money):

- An upgrade to Hot or Not

- A Dating / hook-up feature

- Optimization of the site to improve load times for dial-up users.

- The ability to easily view the gallery (and hopefully videos) on mobile devices.

Looking back at 2006

it's been a little over 16 months since we've moved into our new hosting facility and got the site up and running in its "new" form. We've come a long way (check this out to see the changes over time) from the days where we shared server space with 100's of other web sites to our high tech setup today.

This year we've added in new streaming member videos for you, implemented new workflow to improve the size and streaming capability of the contributed user video clips and added 5 new photo galleries and more than 17,000 new pix over the last 12 months.

We've worked through power outages, hardware failures and the ever-popular Chinese hackers to keep the site up, running and fast. We've exceeded our target of 99% availability over the course of the year.

Of course, we'd be nothing without the pix! To that end, we can thank the tireless (and usually thankless) efforts of our friends: milkman, Smitty, phish808, memattohyeah, tavernkeeper, correl9, pattibro1225, BiJockCo, 65stang, theminx, michael9999, jak100, DickLicker, JRF, Gaboypa, rocky, slycok22, supernova151, harryrod575 (stories) and many others. If you've never taken the time to say hello to any of these posters, now is a great time to let them know you appreciate their efforts!

And of course we can't forget the comments! What would we do without the wit and wisdom (sarcasm?) of omegafratbro, denial, zottie, HERE4FUN, Calder, likedicks, nakedsunbather, correl9, DickLicker, hurricane, Davidealoca1, hoosierboi, Nelson, Manclaw, sizemo, offsides16, paulbaja, hornedvtdude, tavernkeeper, BigGun and many, many more.

Some of the things we had intended to do did not come to fruition. Number one on this list was bringing the chat system up to speed. This wasn't for lack of effort (or money, ugh). But, we'll be giving this a fresh look in 2007 and hopefully we'll get it right the third time!
